What to see in Las Vegas
There’s so much more to Las Vegas than whiling away the hours on the slot machines, but that is a fun place to start!
Despite Sin City’s reputation for being a party hub, there’s a desert paradise that deserves to be explored. From the fantastic scenery which includes the Mojave Desert and the Grand Canyon, a surprising array of museums and some of the best restaurants in the USA.
If you are looking to wake up in Vegas, then roll the dice and take a look at Pogo’s handy travel guide!
Las Vegas is just a two hour drive from the Grand Canyon, and with enough careful travel planning, you can maximise your time in Vegas with a day trip to this unforgettable US landmark.
The Grand Canyon which spans both the South Rim and North Rim, offers unparalleled vistas that are infinitely mind blowing. Be sure to visit Pima Point which overlooks the Colorado River far below and the Abyss in the South Rim with its 3,000-foot vertical drop.
Experience: The Las Vegas Strip
Can you say you have been to Las Vegas without a trip down Vegas Boulevard which is home to world-renowned hotels like the Bellagio, Caesars Palace and more.
Don’t forget to look out for the iconic ‘Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas’ neon sign! Start at the south end of the strip at Mandalay Bay where you can enjoy a cocktail on the human-made beach and gradually make your way to the north end to take those insta-worthy photos from the tallest free-standing observation tower in the country at the Strat!
Other incredible things to add to your travel planning itinerary in Las Vegas include riding a gondola at the Venetian hotel, watching a Cirque Du Soleil show and paying a visit to the Shark Reef aquarium.
TOP TRAVEL TIPS
If you are planning a trip to Vegas, here are Pogo’s top three tips for your Vegas travel planning itinerary.
Vegas can be pretty spenny, so include some free things to do in your travel itinerary such as visiting the fountains at the Bellagio hotel. The water show takes place every half hour during the day and and every 15 minutes at night to music which is a pretty impressive display!
Wear comfortable shoes as you will be doing a LOT of walking and places are not as near each other as you might think. Even just walking around the hotels on the strip can take time, so plan ahead and be sure to pack a practical pair of shoes that you can walk in. With this in mind, consider the distance between each place you want to visit and plot them in on your Las Vegas pinboard which will help you plan each day more effectively.
There are so many amazing restaurants in and around the strip and whether you favour a melt-in-your-mouth steak, delicious sushi or some plant-friendly cuisine, you won’t be short of dining options. However, choose your reservation time carefully as peak dinner times in Las Vegas are typically between 6-8 pm so consider booking a slightly earlier or later time to avoid the crowds.
Until next time,
