Why visit Los Angeles?
Iconic attractions, incredible nightlife and some of the best restaurants in the state of California. How could you not be intoxicated by the big-city allure and bright lights of Los Angeles?
Synonymous with the glamorous movie industry, one of the most famous areas in Los Angeles is Hollywood and that alone is a huge reason for planning a trip to LA thanks to its legendary landmarks such as the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Hollywood Sign.
LA is one of the most captivating cities on the west coast, it’s dynamic, diverse and culturally rich with endless things to see and do.
From visiting the neon-lit Hollywood Boulevard to strolling down Rodeo Drive, here’s why you should visit the spectacular city of Los Angeles.
Where to stay in Los Angeles
You can’t beat the stylish Hoxton hotel in the Broadway neighbourhood and its cool urban vibes make it a great hotel for chilling out in. It’s also got a lovely rooftop pool, a suntrap that's open from sunrise to sunset where you can enjoy both a revitalising drink along with the sweeping views over Downtown.
If sustainable travel is important to you, then you are in luck as the Hoxton prides itself on zero waste, which means there are recyclable water bottles and milk cartons in the rooms.
TOP TRAVEL TIPS
Here are our top three travel tips when visiting Los Angeles
1) Don’t forget to check out the free museums when planning a trip to LA. MOCA, the Getty Villa and The Broad are all free to enter. You can also take advantage free admission to other museums such as the LACMA on the the second Tuesday of the month and the Huntington Library the first Thursday of the month (but you will need to acquire an advance ticket)
2) Hollywood is bigger than you think and it’s worth noting that West Hollywood is where you will find the celeb mansions and the Sunset Strip, whereas East Hollywood has less familiar sites, but is home to the likes of Thai Town and Barnsdall Art Park.
East Hollywood is less glamorous and noteworthy than its West counterpart, so consider this when booking a trip to Hollywood. Then there’s North Hollywood, head north over the hills and past Universal Studios, and you’ll reach North Hollywood where you will find some cool eateries and art spaces.
3) Travelling around LA can be a smidge arduous, you may want to hire a car especially if you want to experience some of L.A.’s most iconic scenic road trip routes, such as the Pacific Coast Highway which can only be experienced by car. If you don’t fancy getting behind the wheel and also don’t want to have to pay for parking (LA is renowned for it) then rest assured that LA’s public transport is pretty good and there’s also a cool bike share scheme.
