What to do in Vancouver

What to do in Vancouver

There’s so much you can do when planning a trip to Vancouver, from whale watching and live music to hikes and strolls in the park, this city is ideal for foodies, culture buffs, history fans and adrenaline junkies alike!

Whale watching can sometimes be a controversial thing, but the ‘Prince of Whales’ tour is both interesting and ethical. It’s an ideal tour to add to your Vancouver ‘to do’ list and it’s a great way to get an up-close look at some of British Columbia’s incredible marine life. You can fully expect to see not only whales such as orca whales and humpbacks, but sea lions, Pacific white-sided dolphins, elephant seals and more.

Where to stay in Vancouver

The Pan Pacific Vancouver places you in the heart of this vibrant city. This five star hotel is the epitome of luxury and elegance. It has the most stunning views overlooking the port as well as impressive vistas over Stanley Park and the North Shore Mountains.

Enjoy a leisurely brunch listening to live music  in the hotel’s Oceans 999 restaurant and be sure to carve out some time at the Pan Pacific’s spa, which is the largest in British Columbia, with 26 treatment rooms, essential oil–infused steam rooms, and private couples' suites.

You can enjoy Pogo member exclusive discounts and book a 7 night break for just £1254.

TOP TRAVEL TIPS

Here are our top three travel tips when visiting Vancouver

Don’t bother hiring a car - Vancouver, despite being relatively small, is quite a challenging and expensive city to park in.

Thankfully, it’s pretty easy to get around by foot, bike, or public transit, so you don't need a car when you can take advantage of the fantastic public transportation system. As well as buses and the Seabus (which is the ferry system) you can also take the SkyTrain light rail system, which will get you most everywhere you want to go.

Spend some time in Gastown - Gastown is Vancouver's oldest town and it's the place to come for Victorian architecture, captivating cobbled streets, the iconic steam clock, cool art galleries and oodles of Canadian charm. Its distinctive and this quirky district is filled with some of Vancouver's very best food, shopping, culture and nightlife.

Don’t leave without trying the unmissable Canadian dish of Poutine -  What is poutine? We hear you ask. Well, it’s a traditional Canadian dish made up of meat-based gravy on fries dashed with lashings of chewy cheese curds. You can get vegan and vegetarian options when visiting Vancouver, so be sure to add restaurants like Poutineville and the Fritz European Fry House to the ‘Eat & Drink’ section of your Vancouver Pinboard.

Don’t forget to upgrade your Pogo experience when planning your trip to Canada and subscribe to Pogo Plus where you can use Pogo Magic which will give you even more hotel discounts as well as giving you access to your very own AI-powered travel itinerary which will plot out a travel plan for you that is completely tailored to your likes and interests.
